The Cadillac ATS Will Debut at Detroit Automobile Show

It is official: following months of teaser movies and speculation, it has been confirmed that the BMW 3-Series-fighting Cadillac ATS sedan will probably be unveiled in the Detroit Automobile Show, and start production shortly thereafter.

The ATS’ existence was hardly a secret-we’ve been hearing concerning the small sedan for months now-but Mary Barra, GM’s senior vice president of global item improvement, confirmed the model’s Detroit debut whilst speaking to the Automotive Press Association in Detroit late last week. With just one month to go till we see it within the flesh, the rumors are currently starting to fly about what it’ll contain.

For starters, we’ve heard that there will be a selection of engines underhood, starting with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is broadly comparable in power (but not necessarily in design) towards the current motor within the Buick Regal GS. Other engine possibilities consist of the already-popular three.6-liter direct-injection V-6 in the CTS, and some sort of ATS-V that could be powered by either a forced induction V-6 or naturally aspirated V-8.

Whilst the engine choices happen to be tougher to nail down, we do know that the car will provide either a manual or paddle-shifted automatic transmission, thanks to a couple of brief shots within their cadre of teaser movies. 1 of those videos also suggests that the ATS will provide an all-wheel drive version, in the event you can think a brief clip of a mule’s front wheels spinning on a dyno.

Rumors and teasers aside, the automobile will debut early in January in Detroit, and can start production subsequent summer time in the Lansing Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan.
